Our Story

GUIERA was not born in a recording studio.

It was born in a season of surrender.

For years, music had been a part of the Garza family's life. But everything changed the moment we stopped simply writing songs about faith and began writing from lives fully surrendered to Jesus Christ. We realized that music could be more than something people listen to—it could proclaim the Gospel, strengthen believers, encourage the weary, and point people to the only true hope found in Christ.

As we prayed about this new ministry, the Lord impressed a name upon our hearts:

GUIERA

Later, we discovered something remarkable about the Guiera shrub.

Native to the dry regions of the African Sahel, the Guiera flourishes where many other plants struggle to survive. In a land marked by intense heat, prolonged drought, and difficult conditions, it develops deep roots that reach hidden sources of water. It remains standing when the landscape around it is dry, provides shelter in an unforgiving environment, and helps restore the land where it grows.

One of its most extraordinary characteristics is that it shares water with neighboring plants through its root system, helping bring life to places that would otherwise remain barren. It doesn't simply survive—it helps others survive as well.

When we learned about the Guiera, we couldn't help but see a beautiful picture of the Christian life.

Jesus said,

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
— John 4:14 (KJV)

Only those who are deeply rooted in Christ can continue to stand through the droughts of life. Only those who continually draw from the Living Water can pour hope into the lives of others.

That is our prayer for GUIERA.

We pray every song will be deeply rooted in God's Word, drawing life from Jesus Christ alone. We pray they will offer refuge to the hurting, encouragement to the discouraged, strength to the believer, and the message of salvation to those who have never known the Savior.

Just as the Guiera helps bring life to the land around it, we pray this ministry will help lead people to the Living Water found only in Jesus Christ.

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ transcends every genre, every culture, and every language.

Whether a song is written in worship, norteño, country, orchestral, reggae, acoustic, or any other musical style, the message never changes.

Jesus Christ is Lord.

He came to seek and to save the lost.

He is the Living Water for every thirsty soul.

He is the Light that shines in every darkness.

He is the hope of the world.

That is why every lyric begins with Scripture.

That is why every melody points to the cross.

That is why every song is written for one purpose:

To glorify God by guiding hearts back to Jesus Christ.
